My Background:
I earned a PhD from Virginia Tech's Marriage and Family Therapy program in Blacksburg, a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University, a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987 and La Universidad de Sevilla, Spain 1984-1985.
I have been in practice for over 14 years and work with individuals, couples and families. I have a wide range of training from various models including Bowen Therapy, Couples Communication, Couple Development, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Process Experiential Psychotherapy, Relationship Enhancement, Sexual Addictions, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I have doctoral level clinical training from Virginia Tech's Center for Family Services and advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy from Ottawa Civic Hospital.
I am currently an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Tech's Marriage and Family Therapy in Falls Church. I have taught Lifespan Development, Crisis Intervention, and have developed a course called Emotion and Family Therapy.
I have publications in the area of Emotionally Focused Therapy, and have presented on various topics at conferences here and abroad. My dissertation explored the new concept of attachment injuries in couples relationships.
